From hospitals and government buildings to factories and office complexes, Enercon has a long history of helping our clients keep the lights on during even the most challenging times.

Natural Disasters

As our climate continues to change and weather-related natural disasters become more frequent, the need for reliable and robust electrical power systems has never been greater. Critical facilities such as hospitals, fire and police stations, shelters, and dialysis centers must withstand prolonged power outages and continue to provide essential services to their communities.

Enercon's mobile power units, standby power gensets, and microgrids are designed to provide redundant and independent power solutions that can help companies and communities mitigate the impact of severe weather on our Nation's aging electrical grid. These products offer a versatile and scalable way to fortify existing infrastructure and ensure critical facilities have the power they need to weather any storm.

Hurricane Katrina Disaster
FEMA - Hurricane Protection

When it comes to natural disasters, few areas are as vulnerable as New Orleans. The city is situated below sea level, which makes it susceptible to catastrophic flooding in the event of a hurricane or other major storm. Enercon designed and manufactured a critical power enclosure that provides emergency standby power for three gigantic pumps supporting the area's levee system to protect the city from such a disaster. In the event of a power outage, the pumps will automatically activate and begin pumping water out of the city, preventing catastrophic flooding. The enclosure is made from reinforced steel and is designed to withstand high winds and flying debris. It also has a waterproof coating to protect the electrical components from flooding. As a result, the Critical Power Enclosure is a vital part of the city's defenses against future natural disasters.

9/11 Response

When the tragedy of 9/11 unfolded, Enercon rapidly shifted priorities and immediately deployed 20 power modules to support recovery efforts at ground zero. Additionally, quick turn times were met to provide mission-essential standby power for the Pentagon. These systems were critical in providing backup power for essential life safety systems and communications during the rescue, recovery, and rebuilding phases following the attacks. We are proud to have been able to support the men and women who were working tirelessly to respond to this tragedy. Enercon stands ready to help our customers in their time of need.
